Wilden®, the worldwide leader in air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pump technology, is pleased to announce the launch and availability of its new full stroke integral piston diaphragm (FSIPD). The FSIPD diaphragms are constructed of food-grade Wil-Flex™ (Santoprene™) and have been designed for use with Wilden’s Saniflo™ Hygienic Series (1in to 3in or 25mm to 76mm) as well as Original™ and Advanced™ Series (1in to 2in or 25mm to 51mm) AODD pumps.

These new patent-pending diaphragms, unlike competitive models, do not incorporate an outer metallic plate that requires the pump to be cleaned manually. Rather, the metallic plate is integral to the flexing material. The result is a unique and truly innovative diaphragm that features a large integral piston and longer rubber/TPE shaft that enables it to maintain the same stroke length as traditional Wilden diaphragms. The diaphragm’s full-stroke design increases product displacement per stroke, which translates into improved suction lift, greater flow rates and higher efficiencies than experienced when using pumps that operate with reduced-stroke diaphragms.

"The introduction of Wilden’s full stroke integral piston diaphragm is another powerful tool for liquid handlers searching for best-in-class suction lift and flow rates with unmatched clean-ability in their pumps. This product delivers exceptional product-handling versatility," said Greg Duncan, Wilden’s director of engineering. "We have already heard back from the field that this combination of pump performance and enhanced clean-ability are offering operators just what they need."

Wil-Flex FSIPD diaphragms are easy to install and do not require inverting of the diaphragm for installation. Since Wilden’s FSIPD diaphragms are not a laminate they do not require the use of any chemical adhesives, making them compatible with all products and compliant with US Food and Drug Administration regulations. In the event of a failed diaphragm, the pumped media will only be exposed to food-grade plastic or stainless steel. Their clean-in-place capabilities also guarantee the Hygienic Series pumps’ compliance with EHEDG and 3A regulations. Additionally, the diaphragm’s design makes it the perfect choice in challenging suction conditions, such as unloading thick materials from totes, and large-particulate handling in various food-production applications, such as pumping stews, soups, sauces and cheese curds.
