By Canadean
In 2011, the Spanish foodservice market, which was estimated to value €111.6bn, recorded a CAGR of 0.68% for 2006-2011. However, a contraction in the Spanish economy and subsequent reduction in demand led to a 4.8% decline in the Spanish foodservice industry in 2009. Following this, the decline in the Spanish foodservice market was more subdued as the country's GDP growth stabilised in 2010. In contrast to the review period, the Spanish foodservice market is anticipated to demonstrate growth between 2011 and 2016, driven primarily by a reviving economy, thriving tourism industry and rise in disposable incomes, and increase in number of households in the country. The Spanish foodservice sector market size increased from €107.9bn in 2006 to €111.6m in 2011, which represented a CAGR of 0.68% during the review period. In Spain, the foodservice industry was supported by the increasing number of tourists visiting the country and the increase in demand for convenience food by the working population.
