South Mill Champs (SMC), a US-based mushroom supplier, has formed an alliance with Mountain View Mushrooms (MVM) to meet growing demand in the country's south-west.
This partnership aims to leverage SMC's “expanded operational and logistical capabilities.”
Under the agreement, SMC will establish a supply arrangement with MVM to ensure a steady supply of mushrooms for distribution in key markets including Utah, Nevada, and California.
In addition, SMC will lease and manage MVM's packing and warehousing facilities while investing in “enhanced” distribution and cultivation operations.
The warehouse expansion includes transforming the facility into a "comprehensive distribution centre", capable of offering customised packaging and labelling for a variety of produce items, including mushrooms, citrus, kiwi, garlic, and herbs.
South Mill Champs VP of business growth Mike Pia Jr said: “This partnership is an important step in reinforcing our distribution capabilities in western US.
“Mountain View Mushrooms has a strong reputation in the mushroom industry, and by contributing our operational and logistics capabilities, we will be able to better serve the growing demand for fresh, high-quality mushrooms in this region.”
MVM owner Bart Adams added: “We are excited to work with South Mill Champs on this collaboration. Their commitment to operational excellence aligns perfectly with our goals and we are confident it will allow us to continue meeting our customer's needs in new and exciting ways.”
In March this year, SMC formed a cross-border partnership with Mexican private investment firm Grupo APAL.
The joint venture, named Royal Champs S. de R.L. de C.V., plans to construct and manage composting and mushroom growing facilities across multiple locations in Mexico.
