UK food manufacturer Samworth Brothers has acquired the remaining shares in ready-made sandwiches and wraps producer Real Wrap Company.

Financial details of the deal were not revealed.

The move follows on from the Ginsters pasty maker's purchase of a minority stake in the group last year.

Real Wrap Company's management team will not be affected by the purchase, Samworth Brothers said in a statement sent to Just Food.

Just Food has asked Samworth Brothers to confirm what impact the acquisition will have on workers outside of its management team.

Samworth Brothers COO and group executive board member Paul Davey will continue to sit on Real Wrap Co.'s board of directors.

Hugo Mahoney, Samworth Brothers' chief executive, said the purchase would help to grow the company's convenience foods business, which "has been a tremendous success story" for the group, and "is well-positioned for growth".

He added: "The Real Wrap Company is a dynamic, innovative young company that shares our values and focus on quality foods. Real Wrap has great future potential, and the capability and scale of Samworth Brothers will help support further development for The Real Wrap Company business.”

Founded in 2012, Real Wrap Co. produces prepared cold and ready-to-heat sandwiches, wraps, salads and fruit and granola pots.

The group also distributes plant-based ready meals brand Pollen + Grace and Flawsome, which sells cold-pressed juices made from wonky fruits and vegetables.

In a joint statement, Real Wrap Co. founders Jason Howell and Philippe Gill said they were “delighted to be supported by a like-minded partner in Samworth Brothers, to help us continue to do an amazing job for our customers, our people and our planet”.

Samworth Brothers sells a range of food-to-go brands including the Cornish pasties brand Ginsters and Urban Eat sandwiches, which it snapped up in 2020.

The group's operations also include the likes of Melton Foods, Bradgate Bakery and Samworth Brothers Manton Wood, which also supply private-label products. It also manages savoury pastry, ready meals, and protein business units.
