“We are very grateful to our shareholders and board members who had the vision and patience to continuously support us in building this wonderful success story called Agrokasa,” said Jose Antonio Castro, CEO of Agrokasa. “The future for Agrokasa and its 6,000 employees is very bright as we join the Grupo Hame family and continue to grow our business.”

Grupo Hame wrote in a statement: “We are fully convinced that in this new chapter of the history that together we begin to write, we will be able to enhance the strengths of both groups and their collaborators to reach more than what we are today.

“This acquisition is not just a geographic expansion or business diversification, it is a renewed commitment to innovation, sustainability and excellence through responsible value chains.”

In a post on LinkedIn, the group added: “We continue to grow, generating decent work, consolidating our leadership with the confidence that this new chapter brings great opportunities for all. We keep going, because we sow with passion to cultivate prosperity and leave a mark for future generations.”

The dairy and soy food sector will see rising demand for lactose-/gluten-free products

GlobalData estimates that the global dairy & soy food sector will grow at a CAGR of 17% during 2022–27. The healthy eating trend has encouraged consumers to seek alternatives to traditional dairy products. Plant-based dairy alternatives are often perceived as healthier due to their lower saturated fat content. Moreover, increasing awareness about food allergies and intolerances, coupled with consumers’ interest in alternative diets, will drive manufacturers to launch lactose- and gluten-free products.
