Bridor, the France-based bakery group, is to set up its third production site in the US.

The company said the facility, which will make bread and pastries, will be located near Salt Lake City in Utah. It is set to be up and running in January 2026.

Bridor already has factories in Connecticut and New Jersey.

Overall, the new site will be the group’s fifth in North America.

Bridor, owned by food and restaurant group Le Duff, said construction will start later this year.

“This factory will enable Bridor to meet the specific needs of the American market by having a production site close to its regional customers,” Bridor CEO Philippe Morin said. “It will propose a wide range of artisanal breads and Viennese pastries designed specifically for the American market.”

Last month, Bridor acquired Netherlands-based peer Pandriks, a company with two production facilities: one in its home market and another in Fulda in Germany.

Morin added today (17 May): “We are doubling our turnover every five years. This new project in North America is a key part of this strategy because this market has great potential.”

In January, Bridor joined forces with bakery business Equii to produce “higher protein and improved nutrition” products for the North American market.

Bridor said it would bake and supply the products to its range of out-of-home customers such as hotels, bars and airports, along with retail and in-store bakeries.

Le Duff generates an overall annual turnover of around €3bn ($3.26bn). The company owns the vegetable and ready meal company Gourming, as well as bakery and restaurant chains in the US and Germany. It owns 18 production sites and employs over 19,000 people worldwide.
