Chinese infant formula group Yashili International Holdings has announced plans to launch its Super a-Golden Stage infant formula in the New Zealand market.

The company said the product would be available through retailers New World and Pak’n’Save.

Yashili New Zealand general manager William Zhao said Super α-Golden Stage formula is specially designed for the New Zealand market, manufactured and packaged at its local plant in Pokeno, which opened in November last year.

Zhao said Yashili’s emphasis has been its “commitment to product innovation”. Each can of Super α-Golden Stage formula has a unique QR code, allowing consumers to track its provenance and the production process by scanning the code with their smart phone, Yashili revealed.

The company said it has also developed a “deep cap with spoon” that allows formula to be prepared without touching it.

“Super α-Golden Stage formula adheres strictly to New Zealand’s food safety standards and rigorous controls. The product is audited by AsureQuality,” Yashili continued.

Zhao said the launch of Super α-Golden Stage formula in NZ is “another step forward” in the company’s globalisation strategy. “Distributing the product locally demonstrates Yashili’s long-term strategy through its Pokeno investment,” the company added.
