Jacksonville, Florida-based Winn-Dixie Stores has announced the election of John H. Dasburg to the board of directors, and Dennis A. Hanley to the role of VP, produce and floral merchandising.
Winn-Dixie chairman A. Dano Davis explained that Dasburg is currently the chairman, CEO and president of Burger King, before which he served ten years as president and CEO of Northwest Airlines, the world’s fourth largest airline: “John has extensive experience with consumer businesses, serving a wide spectrum of backgrounds and needs. His business skills, combined with his knowledge of finances, will make him a valuable addition to our board.”
Dasburg is active in civic affairs and serves as a director of a number of not for profit enterprises.
Winn-Dixie senior VP, sales and procurement, Dan Lafever, meanwhile announced that Hanley arrives at Winn-Dixie from Woolworth’s New Zealand, where he was director of retail operations. Prior to joining Woolworth’s, Hanley worked for some of the largest retailers in the country, including Farm Fresh, Kmart, Kash N’ Karry, Kroger and Safeway.
“Hanley brings more than 25 years retail experience and a wealth of knowledge in the produce and floral category with him to Winn-Dixie,” said Lafever. “We are extremely pleased to have him as a part of our management team.”
