US retailer Winn-Dixie Stores has appointed Joel B. Barton as Charlotte division manager.

Sheehan, senior vice president of operations. “He has more than 29 years of successful grocery retail experience and we know that he will have a positive impact on our Charlotte division retail store operations.”
Barton comes to Winn-Dixie from Spartan Stores of Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he was executive vice-president of merchandising and marketing, and president of retail stores. Prior to joining Spartan, he was senior vice-president of the supermarket division of Raley’s in West Sacramento, California. Barton spent 26 years with Raley’s, managing a wide range of retail, marketing and merchandising responsibilities.
Winn-Dixie’s Charlotte division operates 141 stores in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, Winn-Dixie operates more than 1,070 stores in 12 states and the Bahamas, and employs over 112,500 people.
