San Diego, California-based SureBeam Corporation, a firm which uses electron beam technology to remove dangerous bacteria and environmental pests from food, has entered into an equipment and processing licensing agreement with Son Son Company, a private Vietnamese food processing corporation.
Under the terms of the agreement, one SureBeam system will be installed in Son Son’s new cold storage facility in the City of An Loc, located near Ho Chi Minh City.
“We see the introduction of SureBeam’s innovative technology as a key step in increasing Vietnam’s level of competence in food processing, as well as being of great value to our customer base,” said Tram Be, the Vietnamese investor who owns Son Son.
Larry Oberkfell, SureBeam president and CEO, added: “This latest agreement underscores the continued strong international interest we’ve been seeing for SureBeam technology.”
Using technology similar to that in a microwave oven, SureBeam uses ordinary electricity to irradiate and help eliminate harmful bacteria, such as E. coli, listeria, and salmonella.
