California-based Ventura Foods has announced that it has completed its purchase of the Marie’s dressings and Dean’s dips businesses from Dean Foods.
The US$198m transaction includes the Marie’s brand and manufacturing facility in Thornton, Illinois, and a long-term licence agreement whereby Ventura Foods will have the right to use the Dean’s trademark on dips.
“This acquisition adds two great brands to our strong portfolio of consumer food products,” said Ventura Foods’ president and CEO Richard Mazer, adding that an aggressive marketing programme is being developed to promote Marie’s dressings and Dean’s dips.
Ventura Foods makes edible oil products, including shortenings and cooking oils, mayonnaise, dressings, sauces, margarine and flavour bases, for the foodservice, retail, industrial and private label market sectors.
