Dutch retail giant Ahold, which last week revealed accounting irregularities at its US Foodservice division, has confirmed that US authorities have issued subpoenas for internal documents relating to almost all of Ahold’s business.

An Ahold spokeswoman confirmed that the US Justice Department had requested the documents but could not confirm the nature of the investigations.

According to the Financial Times, the documents include those relating to promotional allowances at US Foodservice, Ahold’s financial statements, audits, financial projections and budgeting, board meetings, personnel issues and the resignation of CEO Cees van der Hoeven and CFO Michael Meurs. Investigators also asked for documents relating to three of Ahold’s overseas joint ventures – ICA Ahold, Jeronimo Martins and Disco.
