US coffee shop chain Starbucks Coffee is to introduce a new Frappuccino Light blended coffee, which is lower in calories and fat than the original version.

Starbucks said it created the new product in response to customer requests for a lighter blended coffee option. The company said 42% of Americans are currently reducing the fat in their diet and 33% say products low in calories strongly influence purchasing decisions.


Frappuccino Light blended coffee has 30-40% fewer calories than the original Frappuccino blended coffee beverage. Complete nutrition information for the new beverage will be available online at Starbucks.com from 30 June.
