US foodservice chain Ruby Tuesday has said it plans to open a franchised restaurant in Seoul, South Korea in April next year, the first of several outlets planned for that country.

The franchise and development rights, acquired by Baltimore-based Majestic Group, include an eight-year development plan, beginning in 2005.

Ruby Tuesday owns, operates and franchises more than 750 casual dining restaurants in the US and abroad. Its international markets include Canada, Chile, Greece, Honduras, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Kuwait, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Romania, Taiwan and Trinidad.

Site selection for the first store in South Korea is currently being finalised by Majestic’s CEO Nam Kim, who is currently touring the country previewing future development sites.
