In a move aimed at strengthening its position in the US nutritional ingredients market, Israeli food ingredients firm LycoRed has acquired the assets and business of Buckton Scott Nutrition, a subsidiary of Buckton Scott Group.

LycoRed said the acquisition of Buckton Scott Nutrition’s range of dietary supplement ingredients expands LycoRed’s activities in this market where it already has its flagship product, Lyc-O-Mato, a natural tomato lycopene complex.

LycoRed said it will also benefit from Buckton Scott’s marketing capability in the US dietary supplement industry and strength in sourcing high quality raw materials for nutritional products.

“The dietary supplement and health food industries in the US are looking for “one-stop-shop” opportunities for value-added ingredients. The expanded LycoRed Group operation in the US will provide a complete service package, including a wider product range and the analytical and formulation capabilities of the LycoRed Group,” said Morris Zelkha, president and CEO of LycoRed.

“This acquisition is one of LycoRed’s several strategic steps aimed at increasing our capabilities in the US and abroad,” Zelkha added.
