Lifeway Foods has announced plans to expand its portfolio of products made from the cultured dairy product kefir, with a new line of no-sugar-added kefirs designed for consumers who follow low-carbohydrate diets.

Lifeway’s low-carb kefirs will be available in strawberries n’ cream, mixed berry, tropical fruit, and strawberry-banana varieties as well as in an original, unsweetened version. They will have 8 grams of carbohydrates and 2.5 grams of fat per 8-ounce serving.

“Low-carbohydrate diets have demonstrated impressive staying power, and we have had a growing number of requests for a no-sugar-added flavoured kefir to meet the needs of consumers who follow a low-carb regimen or are diabetic,” said Lifeway CEO Julie Smolyansky.

Lifeway Foods is a manufacturer of cultured, probiotic and functional food products, and is the leading US supplier of the cultured dairy product known as kefir. The company markets 12 flavours of kefir and also produces organic and soy kefir products.
