The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has launched a new “VERB:  It’s What You Do” youth campaign to encourage healthy behaviours and physical activity for children.


HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson announced that the US$190m multicultural media campaign is designed to promote a healthier lifestyle for children.


The national campaign will use television, radio spots and the Internet to reach young people all across the country.


Steven C. Anderson, president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association applauded the new programme: “As an integral part of communities nationwide, the restaurant industry is actively engaged in innovative programmes to address the issues of overweight and obesity, including contributing millions of dollars to nutrition education and physical activity programmes, both on a local and national level.”
