The Bush administration’s Office of Management and Budget has approved a figure of US$69.2m in order to assist Virginia poultry farmers recover their operations from the second-worst avian-flu outbreak in US history.


The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is currently working on a draft plan for the distribution of the cash, spokesman Jerry Redding told the National Post.


The poultry companies supplied giants such as Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. and Cargill Inc.
