As part of marked expansion efforts, quick-service Subway restaurant chain has revealed plans to open 20 new locations and is actively seeking area development agents and individual franchisees to open new restaurants throughout Germany.

“Germany is a dominant player in the global economy and has the potential of becoming one of the largest markets for Subway outside of the US,” says Yvonne and Oliver Friedrich, Subway development agents in the Berlin area.

Nine restaurant openings throughout Germany since the beginning of the year, and the recent appointment of Torsten Rothamel as the eighth German development agent, are indicative of the chains international growth initiatives.

“This will give Subway a compelling national profile and make us a more attractive proposition with potential franchisees throughout the country,” added Yvonne Friedrich.

“Subway fills the void for those in the market for health-conscious food. The chain has become well-known for an US customer who lost 245 lbs. by eating nothing but Subway sandwiches and walking,” continues Friedrich.
