US food maker General Mills is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of its 18.5-ounce cans of Progresso Traditional New England Clam Chowder.

The company said the product may contain fragments of metal, but there have been no reports of injury or illness associated with the recall. The recall does not include any other Progresso products.

The affected product was distributed to retail stores in seven states: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. A total of 256 cases with the date code “Best if used by: 08 Oct06 NV NEC-5” (located on the top of the can) are being recalled.
