Troubled Dutch retailer Ahold is reported to have suspended ten more executives linked to its US Foodservice unit.

The suspension are related to “violations of corporate policy”, but are not directly connected to the recent overstatements of earnings, Reuters reported, citing a source familiar with the situation.

Massive accounting irregularities that led to the company overstating earnings have already resulted in the departure of several senior executives.

As a result of the scandal, which erupted in February, the company has been conducting an internal investigation.

“The audit now is so exhaustive that every problem no matter how large or small is being discovered,” Reuters quoted the source as saying.

Ahold is expected to announce within the next few days the appointment of a new US Foodservice chief executive.
