Following the trend of offering healthier indulgences to health-conscious consumers, a division of Russell Stover Candies has introduced a chocolate line co-branded by Weight Watchers International.
Missouri-based Whitman’s Candies is launching eight peg bag and six two-piece varieties.
The company is betting on a sizeable consumer taste for better-for-you chocolates, available at regular prices and tasting similar to regular assortments.
The English toffee squares, almond nougat, pecan crowns, mint patties and coconut dream bars are produced from essentially the same ingredients as Whitman’s regular products, but the combinations and portion sizes have been adjusted to accommodate Weight Watchers’ point-based weight loss system, so that each chocolate has a point value of one per piece and zero trans fat.
