Wal-Mart yesterday (24 June) confirmed the pending launch of its Marketside stores, debuting a website to promote the new concept.
The 15,000 square foot format focuses on fresh quality foods and convenience, a spokesperson for Wal-Mart told just-food.
The website describes Marketside as “a small community grocery store” that “provides fresh, innovative answers to the daily question, ‘What’s for dinner tonight?'”
Marketside stores will offer a wide selection of complete meal solutions, fresh ingredients, and everyday favourites, the company said.
The store concept has been positioned to compete with Tesco’s Fresh & Easy stores.
