Sorrento Lactalis has launched what it claims to be the first omega-3 cheese to hit the US market.

The company has extended its string cheese range to include Sorrento +Plus String Cheese with Omega-3s.

“The new +Plus Omega-3 snack cheese responds to consumer demand for foods that offer nutrition, health, convenience and taste all rolled into one,” says Susan Thomas, marketing manager, snack cheese at Sorrento Lactalis. “We’re responding to one of the top food attributes requested by consumers.”

The cheese will be sold under the Precious and Sorrento brand names on the West and East Coasts respectively. Lactalis has kept the Precious name due to its popularity on the West Coast.

The cheese comes individually wrapped in one ounce servings, with six servings per package and will retail at around $3.99 for Sorrento and $4.29 for Precious.
