Shearer’s Foods has announced the acquisition of Ohio-based family owned Poppees popcorn, in a move that the company said increases the opportunities for both companies to expand their operations, product offering and customer base.
“Shearer’s is proud to continue the great tradition of Poppees in supplying only the freshest and best-tasting snacks to our customers, ” said Bob Shearer, CEO of Shearer’s.
Poppees manufactures and distributes popcorn, cheese corn, caramel corn, hot cheese corn, and hull-less popcorn to food manufacturers, grocery stores and bakeries throughout the US.
The company’s management team and associates will remain in place and continue to operate as an independent business.
Tim McGuire, former owner of Poppees, said: “Our family has enjoyed building our business and servicing our customers. Nothing beats going into a store and seeing your own products on the shelves. We wish the best to the Shearer’s team.”
