Food manufacturer Seneca Foods has acquired two frozen fruit and vegetable firms in the US.
The company has purchased the assets of Unilink from Pennsylvania Food Group and has acquired Lebanon Valley Cold Storage from its partners, Seneca announced yesterday (10 August).
The businesses, based in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, primarily sell frozen fruits and vegetables in the packaged private label retail and food service channels.
“We believe that these operations are a complementary fit with our frozen vegetable business which is primarily based in the Midwest,” said Kraig Kayser, Seneca Foods’ president and CEO. “It will give the company an eastern distribution point for private label retail and food service frozen vegetables, with an experienced workforce, solid book of business and potential for growth in the future.”
Financial details of the acquisitions have not been disclosed.
Last week, Seneca Foods saw its net income more than halve during its first quarter due to excess inventory and increased promotions.
