US salad and side dish firm Reser’s Fine Foods is to buy rival Orval Kent Food Co.
Orval Kent’s parent company Chef Solutions last month filed for Chapter 11. Reser’s said on Tuesday (15 November) that its bid to buy the business had been accepted by a bankruptcy court in Delaware.
Reser’s said it would run Orval Kent’s previous operations “with a significantly strengthened balance sheet and improved liquidity”.
Mark Reser, the company’s president and CEO, added: “Both companies are working diligently to ensure that Orval Kent customers experience a smooth transition as we integrate their operations. We’re confident that the increased breadth and depth of our combined North American product portfolio, product innovation and customer service will benefit all of our customers.”
In July, Reser’s acquired rival Vaughan Foods in a deal worth US$18.3m.
