Wholestone Farms, the farmer-owned US pork processor, has outlined plans for a new production site.
The Nebraska-based business, set up in 2017, is to build a new facility in neighbouring South Dakota.

Wholestone Farms said the project is estimated to cost US$500m. The pork harvest and processing plant will be located in Sioux Falls.
The company is owned by 200 farmers based in the upper Midwest.

A year after formation, Wholestone Farms bought its pork-processing facility in Nebraska from Hormel Foods, the US manufacturer.
