Nestlé has concluded discussions for the creation of a new EUR500m (US$613m) fund called W. Health, originally announced in autumn of 2005.
The fund will invest in external companies active in health, well-being and nutrition, in an attempt to reinforce Nestlé’s competitive position in the areas of food, beverages and pet care. Nestlé said it intends to spend the fund growing promising new businesses in the area of science-based nutrition.
The monies will be managed by an independent partnership constituted by former Nestlé CFO Wolfgang Reichenberger, and Gunnar Weikert, founder of Inventages.
