Chocolate maker Lindt & Sprungli has opened a cocoa liquor facility at its US headquarters in New Hampshire.

The plant enables Lindt to clean, roast and grind cocoa beans and to create cocoa liquor.

The US is a key overseas market for Swiss chocolatier Lindt, which saw global sales fall in 2009 but enjoyed growth across the Atlantic despite the economic downturn.

“Lindt’s major investment in the US production facility reinforces our commitment to the highest quality standards and our desire to accommodate the growing consumer demand for premium chocolate,” said Lindt chairman and CEO Ernst Tanner.
