US retail giant Kroger has promoted its vice president of operations, Tim Brown, to the role of president of its Delta division.

Brown, 52, will head up the division, based in Memphis, with immediate effect. He will oversee stores in western Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri.

He became vice president of group operations for Kroger last year and previously served Kroger’s mid-Atlantic vice president of merchandising since 2009.

He succeeds Mark Prestidge, who was named senior vice president and COO of the merged Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie grocery chains.

“Tim brings extensive industry experience, passion for our customers and associates, and a track record of strong business results to this position,” said Kroger president and COO Rodney McMullen yesterday (19 March). “Tim is an exceptional leader. We are pleased he has agreed to lead our Delta division.”
