US food giant Kraft Foods has struck a supply deal with probiotic R&D company Probi that is likely to see a commercial product on the shelves “within a few months”.
Under the agreement, Probi will supply probiotic ingredients for Kraft’s growing line of LiveActive foods and drinks.
“We expect the agreement with Kraft to result in a commercial product on the US market within a few months, and further news will follow in the near future about this launch,” Michael Oredsson, Probi CEO, said.
Kraft launched the LiveActive range in Canada last March and decided last autumn to move into the US market.
That range includes cheeses containing probiotic cultures and prebiotic fibres and have been produced to improve digestive health.
