US snack firm Kettle Foods has opened an “eco-friendly” factory in the state of Wisconsin.

The facility, Kettle Foods’ second US potato chip factory, is situated in the town of Beloit and is powered with the help of 18 wind turbines on its roof.

Employees at the site are also encouraged to follow green initiatives including converting used cooking oil into biodiesel.

“Investing in green building was a conscious decision on our part to demonstrate our values in a very tangible way,” said Tim Fallon, president of Kettle Foods North America. “Sustainable initiatives are business as usual at Kettle Foods.”
