Kellogg, the largest cereal company in the US, is launching itself into the trail-mix and granola category with the introduction of two varieties of Nutri-Gran Fruit & Nut Bars.
The company said it has attempted to differentiate itself from the competition by using premium ingredients, such as Virginia peanuts, California almonds, wholegrain oats and real fruit chunks, and more of them. The bars will be available this month in two varieties – Berry & Almond and Cranberry, Raisin & Peanut.
“With this latest addition to the product line, Nutri-Grain is taking the brand into new territory, creating a trail-mix granola bar that can be enjoyed any time of day,” said Doug VanDeVelde, vice-president of marketing and innovation, WPBS. “New Nutri-Grain Fruit & Nut Bars combine the heritage of the Nutri-Grain(TM) brand with the popularity of granola-based snacks in a delicious way using natural, premium ingredients consumers demand.”
The Fruit & Nut Bars provide three grams of fibre, with 120 calories per serving and 3.5 grams of fat.
