Hillshire Brands has extended its Jimmy Dean line beyond the breakfast table with the launch of lunch and dinner offerings.
The range features 16 sandwich varieties and bowls including eight Delights by Jimmy Dean items containing 300 calories or less.
“For years, it has been our promise as a brand to provide consumers with convenient frozen breakfast sandwiches and breakfast bowls that are full of flavor and made with high-quality ingredients. At a time when consumers are dissatisfied with the current lunch and dinner options available in the frozen aisle, we’re uniquely able to build upon our expertise in breakfast and bring new, flavorful options that consumers can enjoy at lunch, dinner or even snack time,” said Eric Schwartz, group vice president and general manager for the Jimmy Dean brand.
Targeting those looking for a “quick dinner on a busy evening” or a lunchtime offering, the microwaveable ranges “provide families with the taste of homemade, without the prep or hassle”.
The new items are available in the frozen entrees section of grocery stores nationwide and have a suggested retail price of US$2.49 – US$2.99 for the sandwiches and US$2.99 – US$3.49 for the bowls.
US meat processor Tyson Foods is set to buy Jimmy Dean owner Hillshire, with the companies agreeing on a US$8.55bn deal earlier this month.
