Hershey, the US confectionery giant, has moved to assure consumers it has never purchased milk from China.

The company said yesterday (29 September) that consumer safety and product quality are its “top priorities” and all products use the “highest-quality ingredients and are safe to consume”.
This includes Cadbury products manufactured and distributed in the US by Hershey, the company added.
Yesterday, Cadbury recalled 11 of its own products made in China and distributed to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia amid the continuing fall-out of the melamine scandal in China.
The consumption of milk powder contaminated with the industrial chemical melamine has killed four babies and sickened thousands of others across China this month.
