General Mills has launched the latest addition to the Yoplait yoghurt range on sale in the US.

The US food group said today (7 February) that Yoplait Kids’ “impressive nutritionals” included “25% less sugar than the leading children’s yoghurt”.

Yoplait Kids is sold in four-cap packs and comes in three flavours – strawberry, strawberry banana and vanilla.

Moms are constantly struggling to find healthy snacks that kids will want to eat,” said Elizabeth Bowen, associate marketing manager for Yoplait Kids.

Last month, General Mills, which owns the US licence to the Yoplait brand, said it had added a new flavour to its Yoplait Fiber One range.

In December, the company said it had added more calcium to the original Yoplait flagship yoghurt.

Yoplait is owned by French dairy co-operative Sodiaal and private-equity firm PAI Partners. PAI has put its 50% stake in Yoplait on the block and there has been speculation that a sale could be made this year. Sodiaal has so far indicated that it wants to keep its shares.
