Smart Balance, one of the five fastest-growing food companies in the US, have announced several key executive appointments.

The US-based producer, well known for its heart-healthy products such as buttery spreads, milk, cream cheese and peanut butter, have appointed Bob Gluck as chief operating officer and Alan Gever as executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Both Gluck and Gever were already employees of Smart Balance, assuming the roles of chief financial officer and vice president of financial planning and analysis, respectively.

“I am pleased that Bob and Alan are taking on new roles as we need the division of labour to accomplish our aggressive growth agenda,” said Steve Hughes, Smart Balance chairman and chief executive officer. “Bob’s contributions in making the acquisition a reality and managing the business have been immeasurable, while Alan has worked tirelessly to help transform our business into a public company since he started last June.”

In addition, Smart Balance have named Norman Matar as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, and John Mintz as vice president of finance and investor relations.
