Clark, chairman and CEO of Cardinal Health, joined the pharmaceuticals and medical supplies distributor in 2006.
Previously, Clark was vice chairman of the board of Procter & Gamble, with responsibility for its US$20bn family health business.
Over a 32-year career at Procter & Gamble, Clark has held a variety of senior executive roles, including extensive international operating responsibilities.
Clark’s election to the General Mills board increases the number of directors at the US food giant to 14.
