Dairy Farmers of America has acquired New England-based dairy group Guida’s Milk and Ice Cream for an undisclosed sum.

The deal will see Guida’s become a wholly-owned subsidiary of DFA. The business will continue to be led by Mike Young, the current president, Jim Guida, executive vice president, and Al Guida, chairman of the board.

“Guida’s Milk’s long-standing relationships with customers and comprehensive portfolio of innovative, quality dairy products make it a natural fit with DFA’s commercial dairy businesses and brands portfolio,” a spokesperson for DFA told just-food.

The spokesperson said that DFA is a dairy marketing cooperative focused on maximising returns for its dairy farmer owners. “The acquisition of Guida’s Milk aligns with this mission,” the spokesperson said.
