Barilla is launching a gluten-free pasta line in the US in a bid to cash in on growing demand in the sector.
The Italian company said today (7 August) it will offer four varieties in the Barilla gluten-free pasta line: spaghetti, penne, rotini and elbows. The products are made in a facility in Italy dedicated to gluten-free production, Barilla added.
“We felt it was important to invest in developing a pasta line for the ever-increasing number of people who are adopting gluten-free lifestyles, ensuring that it delivers the taste and texture pasta lovers expect from Barilla,” CEO Claudio Colzani said.
The line will rollout to “select” stores next month, with nationwide distribution set to begin in early 2014.
