Vion Food Group has confirmed the appointment of Greenyard Foods COO Francis Kint as its new chief executive.

Kint, whose career includes time as CEO of Univeg, as well as roles at Chiquita Brands International and Sara Lee, will join Vion on 1 September. Greenyard announced his departure earlier today (9 July).

Vion chair Sipko Schat said: "The dynamics of the modern food industry hold no secrets for Francis. He is well versed in confronting the challenges of handling fresh products and has extensive experience in maintaining good relations with suppliers, clients and producers worldwide."

Tom Heidman, who has been Vion's interim CEO since February after Michiel Herkemij left the business, will go back to the company's supervisory board.
