UK healthier-for-you brand The Food Doctor has been sold by local manufacturer William Jackson Food Group to distributor Euro Food Brands for an undisclosed sum.
London-based The Food Doctor was acquired by bread-to-olive oil supplier William Jackson in 2016. The Food Doctor’s branded product range includes seeds, quinoa, bagels, pitta bread, wraps and snack bars. It was launched in 1999 by nutritionists Ian Marber and Vicki Edgson.
The brand’s new owner, Euro Food Brands, based in Northamptonshire in the English Midlands, is best known as a distributor of major food brands including Reese’s confectionery, Campbell’s soup and Barilla pasta.
In a brief statement sent to just-food, confirming the deal, William Jackson, based in Hessle in north-east England, said: “As a responsible business owner, we must do what is right for our businesses and this sale presents a great opportunity for The Food Doctor. We wish The Food Doctor a very successful future as part of Euro Food Brands.”
William Jackson’s assets include Jackson’s bread, Mediterranean-style oils and snacks business Belazu and organic grocery delivery service Abel & Cole.
just-food has sought comment from Euro Food Brands and The Food Doctor.
