Unilever has launched a cooking oil product in the UK under its flagship spreads brand Flora.

The consumer goods giant said that Flora Cuisine hit Tesco shelves this week and will go on sale in “all other major supermarkets” from 28 March.

Flora Cuisine is made from “a unique blend of rapeseed, linseed and sunflower oil”, Unilever said. The oil is “high in essential omega 3 and 6 and contains 45% less saturated fat than oilve oil”, the company added.

Flora Cuisine brand manager Rachel Dowling said: “Today we are much more aware of what we eat and understand the importance of making healthier lifestyle choices. Flora Cuisine is the first product of its kind to hit supermarket shelves and gives mums a nutritious, healthy and easy to use alternative to oils and butter when cooking family favourites.”

An ad campaign featuring TV presenter Vernon Kay and his mum will appear on UK television on 4 April.
