Danish Crown’s UK arm Tulip has confirmed that it plans to expand production capacity at two of its facilities.
The company said that the GBP20m (US$31.8m) investment, which is being made at its Ashton and Spalding sites, will see the business gain the capacity to process 40% of the UK herd.
In a statement the company said: “Tulip is confident that the GBP20m investment being made at its Ashton and Spalding facilities will, within the next 18 months, see the business gain the capacity to process 40% of the UK herd, further underlining its commitment to the long-term future of UK producers and supply.”
Tulip’s brands include Danepak, Tulip, Plumrose, Spam and Stagg. Tulip sells these under licence in the UK for Hormel Foods. The meat firm also has facilities in Bromborough, Frampton, Linton and Warwick.
