UK-based Immagini has launched its new Text-a-Takeaway m-commerce sales system, designed to create a new sales channel to fastfood and convenience restaurants by utilising text messages (SMS) to order food.

Immagini, which was founded in June 2000 with the brief of applying technology in innovative and creative ways to deliver benefits to businesses and customers, explained that the technology opens up a new sales channel for foodservice providers, with a strong youth market demographic.

It is also ideal for meal deals and special promotions, and helpful in reducing errors in order taking and freeing staff to perform other duties.

For customers, meanwhile, the company argues that Text-a-Takeaway brings the advantages of telephone communication without the disadvantages; no waiting for the phone to be answered, for example, and no being put on hold or having to repeat your order. Text messages can also be sent where there is not sufficient signal for a voice call, and since it is private it can be done in areas where telephone usage is discouraged or difficult.

Text-a-Takeaway is available in all markets operating the GSM standard mobile telephone networks. It can be integrated into existing order processing systems or operate as a stand alone unit. Economically priced solutions are available for single-outlet businesses.
