UK retail giant Tesco has launched a “credit crunch” GBP2 (US$3.27) fish finger sandwich, complete with lettuce and ketchup.
The retailer said today (7 September) that the launch is due to a “credit crunch driven boom for English comfort food”.
A chilled version of the student classic will go on sale exclusively at Tesco stores across the UK from today.
Tesco product developer Laura Fagan, said: “Nothing makes us feel better in difficult times than familiar comfort food that puts a smile on our faces and reminds us of happier days.
“The fish finger sandwich is a British classic that we think will appeal to a wide audience – from people wanting a nutritious snack to those who fondly remember snacking on them when they were youngsters or students.”
