Convenience retailer Spar International is trialling a “new era” in store design, with the launch of a flagship store in the UK.
The store in Lancashire includes a new interior colour scheme and a new fascia design, which aim to create a “big impact” and “lasting impression”, the company said in a press release today (22 October). The company is also trialling the use of ambient modules for bread and produce to create an “authentic market feel”.
“We are really excited about Penwortham, which truly is a store for the future and marks a hugely innovative move for Spar,” Debbie Robinson, Spar UK MD, commented.
“The dynamic store design represents the next generation in convenience retail, with a fresh, clean and modern look that appeals to all shoppers. This new store model is the best design used in the convenience industry today, encompassing significant changes to the store’s layout and ranges,” she added.
The move, Robinson claimed, puts Spar at the “front of the pack” in convenience retailing in the UK.
The store is owned and operated by franchisee Kevin Hunt, who said that the store’s “personal identity” reflects the aim of serving the local community.
