UK supermarket group Sainsbury’s is to relocate its central London headquarters from Holborn to a site in King’s Cross.
The company said the relocation of its store support centre would take place in early 2011.
The retailer added that the change would significantly reduce central office costs. The offices will be no more than two miles from the current location in Holborn where the company has been since 2001, and Sainsbury’s said this would minimise disruption both to the company and employees. The new site’s “impressive environmental credentials” had also figured in the selection of the new premises.
“We have been looking at the possibility of finding alternative premises for around 18 months and have considered a wide range of locations. Taking all aspects of the relocation into account, King’s Cross Central provides a great solution,” said CEO Justin King.
