UK supermarket group J Sainsbury has appointed a new director of customer services as part of its efforts to turn around the performance of the struggling retailer.
Gwyn Burr, who is a former customer services director of rival supermarket chain Asda, joined the operating board of Sainsbury this month, reported The Financial Times.
Burr’s appointment is not permanent, but she is expected to stay with the company for at least a year. She already knows chief executive Justin King, having worked with him at Asda.
“We want to ensure that the customer point of view is represented through everything we do and Gwyn’s appointment will keep us focused and provide insight and knowledge,” Sainsbury was quoted by The Financial Times as saying.
